Welcome to the NLE Buyers Guide - an independent guide to nonlinear video editors and disk recorders/servers for editing.

The NLE Buyers Guide aims to include not only every existing product, but also those soon to be launched. It covers the whole range of nonlinear editing products, including turnkey systems, hardware platforms, and card and/or software packages, as well as disk recorders and servers aimed at post production.

The NLE Buyers Guide is only available free of charge thanks to sponsorship and advertising, so independent of our listings, manufacturers can provide more personalised and useful information in the form of banner ads, logo placements, and Showcases.

How is the NLE Buyers Guide compiled?
Since 1989, SYPHA has collated information on systems and manufacturers, visited leading facilities in the USA and Europe, and participated in numerous international trade events and conventions. In 1992 we conducted a survey, entitled 'Nonlinear: A Survey from the User's Point of View', of over 200 facilities in the USA and UK, and in 1994 we published the first edition of The Nonlinear Video Buyers Guide. In 2000 this was re-launched as The NLE Buyers Guide, and in 2001 it migrated to the Web.

Full Details are given for those manufacturers who are prepared to pay a nominal administration fee. Those who prefer to provide only a summary, or who are unable to confirm details because their product is in too early a stage of development, are given a product Summary.

All manufacturers are obliged to complete a form so that we have the correct search criteria, description and costs for each product.

Although we do our best to check information provided by manufacturers for this guide against our own research, it is not possible to verify every detail. We therefore often rely solely on the supplier to provide accurate information. In addition, systems are continually being updated, and while suppliers are given the opportunity to update their listings regularly, it is advisable to check with them to see whether features that are important to you have been introduced.
