This month's issue is mainly about what will be shown at NAB 2009. While Avid is back this year, Apple is not as it sees trade shows playing a minor role in how it reaches its customers, and with the likes of Quantel pulling out, it promises to be another year of changes. However, from the news that's coming in there will still be be plenty to see from over 1,600 exhibitors, not to mention 15+ conferences offering 700 educational events and sessions. Grass Valley has confirmed that it will be present at NAB 2009, despite Thomson's recent announcement to divest its non-strategic operations, which include Grass Valley. In a letter to the press, Jeff Rosica, Senior Vice President of the Grass Valley Business Division, stated, "Over the past several months, Thomson has taken the opportunity to regroup all of the related businesses – including content production, facility infrastructure, network distribution, and transmission related product areas – under the Grass Valley brand, and a single, proven leadership team. Grass Valley is a solid business with exciting opportunities for the future. I assure you that we remain fully focused on the success of Grass Valley and our customers, and that all current customer project deployments will continue to be carefully managed." Looking ahead to NAB 2009, Rosica confirmed, "Grass Valley will continue its long tradition by introducing very innovative and exciting new products in this, our 50th anniversary year."
