News AJA Video Shows XENA DXT PCI Card For Encoding and Transport of HD and SD at Low Bit Rates (16/9/2004) AJA Video Systems announced today that at IBC04 they will demonstrate XENA DXT, their new solution for professional real-time encoding and transport, using Windows Media 9 Series (WM9S). Combining AJA’s proven HD/SD PCI hardware and Direct Show™ drivers, along with a new interface/management application for WM9S from Durian Technology, Inc., XENA DXT brings professional frame accurate WM9S encoding to the Windows platform. Useful for encoding to file, decoding from file, or point-to-point transport over cost effective IP links, XENA DXT offers a powerful new solution for encoding and transport. "After several years of working on various stages of integration with Microsoft, we are excited to offer a professional solution for WM9S transport of video for broadcast, film, and corporate applications," said John Abt, president of AJA. AJA’s demo, in Microsoft’s stand #7.821, will show Real-Time transport of 720p60 HD video, encoded with AJA’s Qrez scaler and WM9S over a 10/100 LAN, using two standard PCs configured with XENA DXT cards. Using the combination of WM9S and Qrez enables Real-Time transport of HD or SD playback at very low bit rates. "AJA has developed a powerful new solution using Windows Media 9 Series, XENA DXT, bringing professional frame-accurate encoding, decoding, or point-to-point transport for professional Real-Time encoding and transport," said Steve Sklepowich, group manager for the Windows Digital Media Division at Microsoft Corp. XENA DXT will be available November 1, 2004 and will cost $2,590.00. XENA carries a three-year, unconditional warranty.
