Shoot from the Hip! Shining Technology's CitiDISK for HD Supports Panasonic AG-HVX200 Camera (17/5/2006)

Shining Technology Expands Award-Winning Family of Palm-Sized DV/HDV Storage Devices; Supports Panasonic AG-HVX200 and Eliminates Video Capture.

Videographers, broadcasting and editing professionals with new HD cameras and NLE (non-linear editing) software just got some added help to save production time by eliminating the tedious, time-consuming video capture process - CitiDISK(tm) for HD.

CitiDISK for HD is a high-capacity video storage peripheral small enough to fit in the palm of the hand. It's being introduced at NAB by Shining Technology, a leading provider of high-performance data storage solutions for the professional and prosumer digital video, video editing and broadcast markets.

CitiDISK for HD is Shining's latest addition to its award-winning line of DV / HDV storage peripherals. This new offering marks the company's support for Panasonic's widely accepted and rapidly growing HD format (DVCPRO(tm) HD).

"We have successfully conducted full-scale testing with the Panasonic AG-HVX200 camera and have achieved excellent results," said Chris Wang, marketing manager at Shining Technology. "This camera is an exciting, giant leap forward for the industry and we take great pride in developing an important and highly complementary storage peripheral for its users."

CitiDISK - Big Things, Small Package

Weighing a mere 10 oz., the FireWire-enabled CitiDISK for HD offers the speed, storage capacity, portability and simplicity of recording directly from camcorders into most NLE (non-linear editing) software packages with instant playback capability, thus eliminating the intermediate step of re-capturing video footage.

But AG-HVX200 users perhaps will benefit most from CitiDISK for HD's extra storage capacity, providing up to an additional 120GB (equivalent to approximately two hours of recording time) for their HD-hungry footage. With Panasonic's 4GB and 8GB P2 High Performance Cards (Model #'s AJ-P2C004HG and AJ-P2C008HG) priced at $650.00 and $1,400.00 each, respectively (source: panasonic.com, as of April 18, 2006), CitiDISK for HD is an attractive, compelling peripheral.

In addition, competitive external video storage drives are significantly heavier, have a larger footprint and offer less storage capacity while costing nearly double that of CitiDISK for HD.

Powerful Portability

To give users maximum power sources without disrupting their workflow, CitiDISK for HD embeds a rechargeable Lithium Polymer battery that automatically kicks in when external battery power runs low. This seamless battery power changeover ensures non-stop shooting capability with no need to shut down the unit.

Pricing & Availability

CitiDISK for HD is expected to ship in Q2 2006. Storage capacities will be available in 80GB, 100GB and 120GB models (all with identical footprint). Pricing is anticipated at $979.00 - $1199.00 (MSRP). The complete CitiDISK line of products and accessories are available through Shining Technology's international distribution network
