You/Com Presents the PARROT Compact All-in-One Reporter Unit (29/8/2006)

There is good news for radio reporters looking for an all-in-one solution, so that they can do away with the hassle of carrying around recorders, reportophones, PC's and endless numbers of cables when on the job. We think that journalists will be pleasantly surprised when they see You/Com's PARROT.

The PARROT is an integrated solution aimed at radio reporters who sometimes need to be live on-air from location, but who also often make a recording beforehand. For the live contribution he needs to be in direct contact with the studio. Whereas the recording could also be sent as an audio file, thus retaining its quality. In both cases all he needs are his microphone, mobile phone and PARROT - nothing more, nothing less!

One can even play-out a pre-recorded item during a live contribution. This is possible because the unit connected via Bluetooth to a mobile telephone sets-up a digital 4-wire connection to the studio. But there's more to come! A quote can be sent to the studio as a file in its original recorded quality and without having to touch a PC! Pressing the GO button on the PARROT suffices to send a pre-recorded item to the studio. No more cables, no lugging around a PC. A complete workstation that snugly fits in your coat pocket.

Of course it goes without saying that recordings can be edited on the laptop when connected with a USB cable to the PARROT. In that case the PARROT also functions as an external sound card with a difference, namely with robust connectors.

The PARROT is based on the integration of wireless telecommunication and flash recorder technology. This technology has resulted in a small, robust unit with professional connectors for microphone (XLR) and headphones (6,3mm jack). During the design stage great care was taken to ensure simple operation, multi-functionality and lengthy operating time. The enclosed photo gives one a good impression of its dimensions.
