New HI5 Offers Small Footprint and High Value for Viewing SDI and HD-SDI Material on HDMI Displays

AJA Video, a leading manufacturer of professional video interface and conversion products, announced today HI5, a miniature converter with full support for High-Definition Multimedia Interface, or HDMI. AJA is introducing HI5 and showcasing it this week at the DV Expo in Los Angeles, November 15-17th at LA Convention Center from booth #617, and at the Inter BEE Expo in Japan at the Makuhari Messe convention complex from November 15th-17th at booth #6307. HI5 offers cost-effective conversion and a small footprint for viewing SDI and HD-SDI material on HDMI displays.

The uncompressed, all-digital audio/video HMDI interface has become more and more popular for set-top boxes, DVD players, A/V receivers and audio and video monitors. HI5 allows for media conversion via a single-cable audio/video connection, with embedded SDI/HD-SDI audio, two-channel RCA-style audio outputs for separate audio monitoring if needed, and looping to connect or "daisy chain" multiple monitors to the same SDI/HD-SDI source.

Pricing and Availability

The HI5 miniature converter provides streamlined and convenient conversion from SDI or HD-SDI to HDMI. The converter is priced at $490 (US MSRP) and requires an AJA power supply. HI5 will begin shipments worldwide on December 15.
