News Miranda launches X-3D advanced HD/SD 3D graphics processor using technology from Ventuz (17/9/2007) Miranda Technologies has launched a 3D graphics authoring and rendering platform, called X-3D, for the most advanced HD/SD production graphics applications. X-3D incorporates advanced processing technology from Ventuz, the 3D graphics specialist, and integrates closely with Miranda's Xmedia Suite template-based graphics workflow tools. These applications provide highly effective asset management, datainterfacing and newsroom integration, using MOS for the delivery of rundown information. 'The X-3D offers unsurpassed graphics performance and quality in both HD and SD, using the latest GPU technology', says Darin Crosby, Miranda's Managing Director for Europe, Middle East and Africa. 'With the 3D rendering done in real-time, any changes affecting the graphics, either from data or from controlling systems, will take effect immediately. These advanced capabilities allow amazing effects to be generated, with virtually no limits to creativity.' X-3D can generate many sophisticated animation effects, using 3D primitives and imported objects. It offers texture and material mappings, as well as shading and 3D lighting. Dynamic motions using motion manipulators, like motion damping, can also be used to add physical accuracy to animations. The processor's 3D design and authoring application, XVentuz, uses a template-oriented structure which simplifies authoring, control and graphics re-use. XVentuz integrates closely with Miranda's Xmedia Suite graphics workflow tools to allow highly effective asset management, control and playout. The Xstudio application is used for graphics template creation, including data-interfacing to proprietary feeds and databases so that dynamic scenes automatically format and adjust to the input data. Another application, the Xnews NRCS plug-in, allows journalists to create pages from graphics templates to support news stories. Complex production graphics sequences can be driven by the Xplay media event sequencer, using MOS for the delivery of rundown information from the NRCS. 'With the new X-3D processor, Miranda's graphics systems now cover the full breadth of graphics applications, including high end 3D production graphics, highly automated promotional graphics, and dynamic channel branding', added Darin Crosby. 'Importantly, there is a common workflow across our graphics processors, which dramatically improves productivity and helps to get graphics on-air faster.'
