Frost & Sullivan Recognizes Thomson Grass Valley Cameras with 2007 Product Line Leadership of the Year Award (11/3/2008)

Frost & Sullivan has announced that Thomson (Euronext Paris: 18453; NYSE: TMS) is the recipient of its 2007 "Product Line Leadership of the Year" award, based on the global market success of its comprehensive Thomson Grass Valley(tm) line of standard- and high-definition (SD and HD) broadcast and digital cinematography camera products and customers' worldwide adoption.

The respected global growth consulting company has cited Thomson's "impressive product line up," which includes the Thomson Grass Valley Infinity(tm) Digital Media Camcorder, LDK 8000 HD camera family (Standard, WorldCam , and SportCam), and the single format LDK 4000 mk II single-format HD camera. The company also offers customers various options for digital recording with different storage solutions.

"As a company with a comprehensive suite of solutions, Thomson provides products and solutions for the entire production workflow that are compatible with each of its cameras," said Mukul Krishna, Industry Manager with the Frost & Sullivan North America Information & Communication Technologies Practice. "Thomson's consistent pursuits to be ahead of market trends and to reach out to diverse customer needs have established it as a formidable vendor in the digital video market."

In presenting the award, Frost & Sullivan also identified the Thomson Grass Valley series of SD camera products, which have seen "an encouraging uptake in the market." The LDK 400, for example, features 14-bit analog to digital conversion while supporting a wireless triax camera system and remotely controlled features.

The award recognizes Thomson's ability to help its customers make the transition in the broadcast sector from standard definition to high definition and, in cinematography from film to digital image processing.

"This award by Frost & Sullivan is yet another acknowledgement of Thomson's leadership in the worldwide SD and HD camera markets," said Jeff Rosica, Senior Vice President of Thomson's Broadcast & Professional Solutions business unit. "With more than 1,000 LDK 8000 cameras sold worldwide since its introduction at IBC last year, Thomson leads the industry with the highest quality, most cost-effective HD cameras available for studio, sports, and entertainment production, while our systems approach means that all LDK 8000 camera accessories can be used by any camera in the LDK 8000 series."

Thomson's full range of HD cameras has been adopted by many broadcasters and production companies around the world and is consistently used at virtually every major sporting event, such as the NFL Super Bowl and the Summer Olympics in China.

This year's Frost & Sullivan Award, presented in the category of "Product Line Leadership in the Global Digital Broadcast & Cinematography Cameras Market," is one of several that Thomson has received in the past several years.
