Sony Unveils HDVF-EL70 and HDVF-EL75 Viewfinders for Professional HD Camera Systems (19/4/2010)

Sony is introducing four new viewfinders that deliver high levels of accuracy and reproduction for production professionals.

Included in this plan is the launch of two versions of a 7.4-inch OLED model, HDVF-EL70 for studio cameras, and HDVF-EL75 for portable cameras. Sony is also introducing two five-inch LCD models, the HDVF-C550W high definition and DXF-C50W standard-definition viewfinders.

“These new viewfinders are designed for use with many of the camera systems across our entire product line – either SD or HD – to give our customers the most flexibility,” said Chris Marchitelli, senior product manager for CineAlta and Production Systems, Sony Electronics.

The new OLED viewfinders use the same panel as Sony’s professional video monitor PVM-740, also being introduced at NAB 2010. The OLED panel, combined with Sony’s Super Top Emission technology, results in higher contrast and higher brightness. The viewfinders feature a “flexible arm" mechanism for versatile positioning, and a range of focus assist functions.

The new five-inch LCD viewfinders are small and lightweight for compact camera system operation, with a wider viewing angle, larger display area and lower power consumption than previous models.

The new OLED viewfinders and the new five-inch LCD HD viewfinder are designed for use with many of Sony’s professional HD cameras and camcorders. These include the F23 and F35, as well as the XDCAM® HD422 optical camcorders and HDCAM® camcorders, the HDC-1500/1000/1550/1400/1450 series and the HDC-R Series cameras of multi-format studio and field cameras, the HDC-3300 and HDC-3300R super slow motion cameras, and HSC-300 and HXC-100 HD/SD studio and field cameras.

The new five-inch LCD SD viewfinder can be used with Sony’s DXC and DSR series, XDCAM and XDCAM EX cameras.

The new five-inch viewfinders will be available in May, and the 7.4-inch OLED viewfinders will be available later this year. Suggested list pricing for the new models has not been set. AddThis Social Bookmark Button
