DAVID Systems Announces XDCAM-HD and Windows 7 Support for its DigaSystem (11/6/2010)

The new software package release 2010.1 of DAVID Systems adds new capabilities to the DigaSystem® products for media production, content exchange and management as well as broadcast playout. Over the course of the past 12 months, almost the entire DAVID Systems portfolio has been refreshed to enable broadcasters to bring out news faster and to take advantage of new tri-media distribution opportunities.

Munich, Germany – May 27, 2010 – DAVID Systems, a leading provider of global broadcast solutions, announces the release of its 2010.1 software package. The highlights of the release are XDCAM-HD support and Windows 7 / Server 2008 R2 qualification for most DigaSystem® products. With the support of the XDCAM-HD format in DAVID Systems’ media production, content management and distribution as well as playout products, broadcasters can now easily expand their tri-media workflows towards HD. The support of XDCAM-HD throughout the entire broadcast value chain, including playout, increases efficiency, reduces time-to-air and improves usage of existing resources in news production for broadcast and broadband distribution.

Specifically, new media conversion capabilities – powered by DAVID Systems’ new Media Component Library (MCL) – support XDCAM-HD as well as MPEG2-HD and DVCPro HD formats. Also, read-while-write for all processes is now available in the Moves Media suite of products and new desktop ingest tools can speed up HD workflows by providing journalists with essential file import capabilities.

The qualification of Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2 for most DigaSystem® components allows DAVID Systems customers to take advantage of the latest operating system enhancements. Existing DigaSystem® users can now easily upgrade their infrastructure to Windows 7 / Server 2008 R2 and simultaneously take their DAVID Systems components to the latest version and benefit from better stability and more features.

„The new 2010.1 release brings a lot of new features to all our products and solutions from production and content exchange to playout. Focus of all product enhancements was to support our customers in delivering more news in less time and helping them to add tri-media production and distribution capabilities to their workflows “, says Vincent Benveniste, CEO DAVID Systems GmbH. „We see time-of-production and the ability to serve multiple channels as two key objectives for our customers today and are committed to continuously evolve our products with these in mind“.
